Friend Makin' Monday (on Tuesday again!) - Have You Ever?

I'm always a day late on these! Monday's are Zumba & RuPaul's DragRace night for me, so I don't get on the computer. My two guilty pleasures - don't judge!

Have You Ever?
Fired a Gun? Yes, it's been a while but I actually own a 12-gauge singleshot shotgun.  I also learned to shoot a .45 in bootcamp and had to qualify with a shotgun while on my first ship.  I had to load & shoot the ocean.  Kinda hard to miss that target!

Gone on a blind date? Yes, like most - it was awkward.

Skipped school? Yes, it was on senior skip day, so I was with a bunch of friends and our parents all knew about it.

Watched someone give birth? No.

Watched someone die? No, thankfully.  I saw my Dad right after he'd passed.  But does a kitten count?  If so, yes.

Visited Hawaii? Yes, several times.  One time as a freshman, once on my senior trip and once while in the Navy.  That time meant the most to me, since we manned the rails as we went by the Arizona Memorial and it was very touching.

Visited Europe? Nope, but I'd love to.

Visited Las Vegas? No. I'd love to see some shows & the lights!

Visited Washington? State or D.C.? Yes - DC just last summer & I was stationed in Washington State while in the Navy the last 2 years I was in.

Visited Amsterdam? Nope.

Visited Florida? Yes, went to bootcamp in Orlando.  I also was stationed about 7 miles from the border in Kings Bay, Georgia so we went to Jacksonville a lot.

Visited Mexico? Yes.  I got engaged in Cozumel!  And Tijuana is a gimme when you're in San Diego.

Visited Australia? No, but I think that would be awesome.  I was supposed to go there in 1995, but things were heating up in the Persian Gulf and we had to stay there longer instead of going to Australia & New Zealand (and there's a void in my life!!!)
Seen the Grand Canyon in person? Nope, I would love to!  I want to go out on the glass walk thing.

Been on a cruise? Yes, besides the haze gray ones - I went on 2 Carnival cruises.

Been in a movie? No

Visited LAX? No

Been to New York City? No

Cried yourself to sleep? Probably

Played in a band? No.  Zero musical talent, except for car singing.

Used an adult coloring book? Yes - I want the one with the swear words, that would be hilarious!
Sung karaoke? Yes, badly.

Gone swimming in the ocean? Yes - the Atlantic, Pacific & Indian Oceans!

Paid for a meal with coins only? probably, yes.

Made prank phone calls? I’m sure I did, but I can’t remember a particular instance.

Laughed so much you cried? Yes - and also laughed so hard no more sound came out!

Caught a snowflake on your tongue? Yes

Had children? Yes - just one.

Had a pet? Yes - and there's one purring on my lap right now!  Pretty sure my Navy days were the only time in my life without one of some sort.

Been skinny dipping? Oh yes.  In a pool, a river, a lake & the ocean.

Repelled down a building/tower? Nope

Gone zip lining? Nope

Been water skiing? No - or does tubing count?

Been camping in a tent? Yes.  Camped out in a barn before, too.  Threw an air mattress down in the aisle between the horses' stalls and got stared at all night!

Driven a motorcycle? No

Jumped out of a plane? No, but that would be pretty fun!

Gone to a drive-in movie? Yes

Done something that could have killed you? A couple of things that could have turned out very badly when I was younger.  My guardian angel was a busy guy!

Done something that you will regret for the rest of your life? I regret getting out of the Navy, but  my parents would have raised Angel for a couple years while I was out to sea.  And I never would have met Randy and my life would be totally different.  So I'm good.

Ridden on an elephant? Yes - in dress whites!

Ridden on a camel? Yes - last fall at the Ohio Ren Fest.

Eaten just cookies, cake or ice cream for dinner?  Probably

Been on TV? Yes, accidentally.  I was walking down the sidewalk and the news cameras were across the street at a movie opening.

Been in a newspaper? Yes, front page of the local podunk paper in my senior year.  My art class was painting a Christmas scene on the post office windows and they got a picture of me & another girl.  I has a quasi-mullet, a Def Leppard t-shirt and tight-rolled jeans.  Yay 1990!

Stolen any traffic signs? No

Been in a car accident? I got rear-ended 5 different times!!!  I was convinced that 2000 Ford Escort green was like a cloak of invisibility.  People were always cutting me off or turning out in front of me.  It must have been me + that car, since my daughter is driving that car now and she doesn't seem to have a problem.

Stayed in a hospital? Not since giving birth.

Donated blood? Yes, regularly.

Had to pay a fine of some kind in the past 12 months? Nope.

Eaten snails? Yes - escargot is tasty!

Gotten a piercing? My ears are done 3 times each.

Gotten a tattoo? I have 4 - used to have 5.  I got one touched up and it covered another.

Driven a standard car? Yes, I drove a column-shift poo-brown mini van while in Bahrain.  Our classy US Government vehicle.  I had to shuttle all 3 shits of workers since no one else could drive it.  It's kinda fun to drive in a foreign country, tho!

Ever owned your dream car? HA!  No.  But I'm pretty happy with the one I have right now.  A 2008 Saturn Vue.

Been married? Yes - 3 times.  Third times a charm!  Randy't stuck with me now, since I have our last name tattoos on my ankle (it's fun with a last name like Love!)

Been divorced? Obviously - yes.  Twice.

Fallen in love? Clearly

Paid for a strangers meal? Yes, we'd gone out to breakfast and there was an old man eating by himself and I felt that we really needed to pay for his breakfast and told Randy so.

Driven over 100mph? Yes

Worked in a pub? No

Found a dead body? No

Lived on your own? Yes

Ridden in the back of a police car? Nope.

Written or published a book/story/poem/song? Yes, a poem I wrote when I was 14 got published in a book.

Now it’s your turn to answer next week’s questions! Don’t forget to come back and link up in the comments!

Happy Monday!

Friend Makin' Mondays - Spring is here!

Just popping in real quick - I have to leave for Zumba soon!  The teacher is trying "Brazilly" tonight - a combination of the samba and bellydance.  Can't wait!

Spring is Here
  1. What city do you currently live in? Shelby Twp., MI  About 20 miles north of Detroit.
  2. What’s the weather like where you are?  It looks kinda cold out there with the steely gray skies, but the temp is in the low 50s and the sun is shining weakly.
  3. When you eat at a restaurant do you prefer to eat inside or outside?  Inside.  Some places do have outside options, but I'll pass.
  4. What is your favorite season? Spring and fall are pretty close.
  5. When you go on vacation do you prefer the beach or the mountains? Mountains.  I get bored just sitting on the beach, no matter how many umbrella drinks I have!
  6. What do you like most about Spring? The robins & red-winged blackbirds coming back.  Things starting to grow.  Baby critters.  Perfect horseback riding weather.  And of course....NHL playoffs!
  7. .
  8. Share one of the greatest moments of Spring from your childhood. Nothing really stands out.  Wait.  Finally being able to leave the shoes off when we went outside.  And those first couple days of tender feet until they toughened up again and we could run up & down the dirt road without thinking about it.
  9. Do you prefer to wear shorts, capris or dresses at this time of year? Depends on what I'm doing.  If I'm scrubbing around the yard - shorts.  I can get away with capris for work.  But dresses seem fancier.
  10. What do you miss about Winter?  I'll let you know when I'm sure it's actually gone away!
  11. What do you look forward to about Summer? Working in the yard.  Grilling outside.  I will eat on our own patio without any qualms.

Friend Makin' Monday...on Tuesday! The Basics

I'll be posting again probably tomorrow when I've actually gone to a WW meeting and gotten on a scale!  I've been going to Zumba twice a week and oddly enough, I've learned the deeper the squats I do, the more I feel it in my thighs instead of just in my knees.  I have to say, I'm glad I attend classes at my daughter's second home (aka the dance studio) because the ballet barres come in handy for lunges.  There are a lot of us dance moms who go to these classes, because we all have a trip to SC coming up in 2 months and we want to be the "Hot Dance Mamas"!
At the beach:
So I missed the meeting tonight & I was ticked.  I didn't go last week, so I was looking forward to going tonight.  However, Miss Angela made arrangements with a guy she works with who is attending the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology school, to color and trim her hair.  And Heaven forbid this kid go do anything alone!  She's gone to this school to have work done before but yet she insisted on me going with her.  I was going to meet up with her after my meeting!  So.  I said I'd go to the meeting Wednesday, even tho I don't like the later time & usually don't like the leader, but I'd deal.  So I changed into jeans and grabbed a snack before we left for the salon.  Then this guy texted her and said he had a class and asked if the could postpone until tomorrow!  WTF - I just finished chewing my last freakin' bite of food!!!!  If he'd texted 5 minutes sooner, I could have changed back out of my jeans and gone to the meeting.  Look Sunshine.  I'm not missing my meeting again and it's also Zumba night.  You can go alone, dammit. At least the dog got a walk out of the debacle.

Moving on.... the lovely Miss Kenlie brought back Friend Makin' Mondays!  It's been a few minutes since we did one of these.

Friend Makin’ Mondays: The Basics
How often do you make your bed?  Personally, I usually only do on weekends. During the week, the hubby is just starting to stir, so he makes it when he gets up.

What are you currently reading?  I haven't been reading much by way of books, but the A-Z Challenge is keeping me busy.  (I'm at Tales From The Love Shaque and I'm writing about the plethora of Halloween stuff that I have.)

Do you go to bed at a certain time? I have the alarm set on my phone for 10:15 to get ready for bed with the intent to be IN bed by 11.  That clearly isn't happening tonight, but I'm ok with that.

What are your favorite TV shows currently? I don't watch much TV, but I'm watching Season 8 of RuPaul's DragRace.  It airs on Monday nights, but I watch it online Tuesday so I can watch the behind-the-scenes shows they have, too.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve eaten lately? Hmm.  The girl works for a Thai restaurant so I've been sampling their food.  It's not really weird, tho.  They offer a mean Thai margarita there, too!  Let's say I did NOT drive home the last time I was there!

Do you have any trips planned? Charleston SC in June!  The girl's dance team is going to Nationals so 10 days or so near the beach.  I don't know how much we'll actually get to go to the beach, because she qualified in enough dances where she's likely to be competing every day, Tuesday - possibly Sunday.  Oh, and July 8 is mine & hubby's 10 year anniversary.  There may be a short trip planned then, but I don't know what ideas are churning inside his melon!  I was told to take Friday & Monday off work.

How many cups of coffee do you drink per day? I don't drink much coffee.  I have a can of Coke Zero once I get to work and maybe one more in the evening. The rest of the time is water with Crystal lite.

It’s Saturday night, and you decided to stay in? What do you do to entertain yourself? I do some blogging or reading or maybe half-heartedly watch whatever the hubby has on. I need to finish a cross-stitch piece I've been working on for a good 2 years!  I also have a H'ween project I've started and need to paint.  I found a plastic horse at the Salvation Army and I'm planning to make it into a ghost-horse.  Meaning solid black with an ivory skeleton.

When you give a gift do you wrap it, or do you put it in a gift bag? Depends.  I like to wrap boxes, but if its a bunch of smaller items or weirdly shaped, I'll bag it.

Share one thing from last week that made you smile?   These two always make me smile!  Chester (my orange boy) is at least 16 years old and Daisy will a 1 next month.  He is such a good big brother and they snuggle all the time.
One of the guys at work cracked me up yesterday.  I'd just gotten there and was putting my lunch in the fridge, etc.  Joe walked into the the kitchen with this mean look on his face.  I looked up to say Good Morning, but stopped.  He asked "is it always like this?"  Of course I was confused.  He went on the say "hot, then cold, then hot, then cold"  Then I understood & started to laugh - Friday was 60+ degrees and sunny, then Saturday started out nice, then developed winter weather advisories for Saturday night / Sunday!! He's clearly not from Michigan, but I heard someone say they thought Joe was from Buffalo, NY, which I think would be worse!

Now it’s your turn to answer this week’s questions. Don’t forget to head over and link up in the comments.
